Megan Thee Stallion: Why I Speak Up for Black Women

In her opinion piece for the New York Times, Megan Thee Stallion further elaborates on the her controversial performance on Saturday Night Live. Boldly, Megan demands the country make room for Black women’s voices and stand in solidarity with them against misogyny, racism, classism and violence. She brings forth her experiences with dealing with violence in the public light and renews focus on the police murder of Breonna Taylor. 

In the weeks leading up to the election, Black women are expected once again to deliver victory for Democratic candidates. We have gone from being unable to vote legally to a highly courted voting bloc — all in little more than a century.
