In 1972, Shirley Chisholm went ran against the odds by campaigning for President of the United States. Despite scrutiny from all facets of the political landscape, and ultimately not winning the Democratic nomination, her campaign became a testament to the truth that any American, no matter race or sex, could look toward bringing change for the country and it’s systems.
